Representatives of Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia and UNESCO discussed cooperation prospects within the digital ecosystem of World Heritage sites

With the support of the Permanent Delegation of the Uzbekistan to UNESCO, online consultations were held between representatives of Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia and the UNESCO Secretariat to discuss prospects for cooperation in the preservation, promotion and digital advancement of cultural heritage within the framework of the international “Dive into Heritage” project, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The project is funded by Saudi Arabia and implemented by UNESCO. This digital platform is regarded as one of Saudi Arabia’s key initiatives aimed at developing a comprehensive digital ecosystem of World Heritage sites through the application of advanced 3D modelling technologies.
The event was attended by representatives of our country's Permanent Delegation to the organization, the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO, the Cultural Heritage Agency, Art and Culture Development Foundation, as well as relevant departments of UNESCO and Saudi Arabia.
During a meeting with Saudi Arabia and UNESCO, Uzbekistan was introduced to the “Dive into Heritage” project, which utilizes 3D modelling and immersive technologies to promote and preserve World Heritage sites. The initiative aims to enhance the international representation of member states' cultural legacies and integrate Uzbek Silk Road landmarks into a global digital ecosystem.
The parties discussed potential ways for Uzbekistan to join the “Dive into Heritage” project, including the involvement of national specialists and relevant organizations, as well as prospects for further expert collaboration.
Representatives of Uzbekistan expressed interest in exploring the possibilities of this project and emphasized the importance of applying modern digital solutions to promote the country's rich cultural heritage.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue working contacts to elaborate on potential formats for further cooperation.
