Mineral and raw material potential of Uzbekistan presented in Berlin

In Berlin, an event dedicated to the mineral and raw material potential of Central Asia was organized by the International Association for Foreign Mining and Raw Materials Activities (FAB) and “Deutsche Rohstoffagentur” - The German Raw Materials Agency (DERA) in cooperation with the embassies of Central Asian countries, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The event brought together representatives of relevant government agencies and industrial enterprises, heads of diplomatic missions, experts from scientific institutions, and industry specialists.
Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Dilshod Akhatov, briefed attendees on the country’s ongoing large-scale reforms, rich mineral and raw material reserves and recent developments in mining and geology. He also outlined the investment environment for foreign investors, including legal frameworks, incentives and favourable conditions. The diplomat emphasized Uzbekistan’s interest in expanding practical cooperation with Germany in geological exploration, mining, processing and the implementation of modern technologies.
Several German industry representatives spoke at the event, including Christopher Demel, consultant of “Project Consult GmbH” on mining and mineral resources, Oleksandr Koval, Mining Manager of “Thyssen Schachtbau GmbH” and Rüdiger Schwarz, Managing Director of “Noble Elements Metallhandelsgesellschaft mbH”. They noted that ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan’s mining and geology sectors are producing positive results. In particular, they highlighted the increased transparency in subsoil use, the opening of new exploration sites for foreign projects, and the expanding scope of cooperation with international companies.
Participants also evaluated Uzbekistan as a promising market for modern mining construction and mine infrastructure modernization, expressing interest in implementing joint projects. Initiatives related to rare metals were especially praised, underscoring the country’s resource potential and openness to investors.
The discussions demonstrated growing international interest in Uzbekistan and highlighted opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation with Germany in strategic raw material sectors.
Participants exchanged views on expanding collaboration in geological exploration and mining, establishing permanent communication mechanisms between relevant institutions and outlining next steps for future cooperation.
