ANKARA, February 23. /Dunyo IA/. Türkiye “Diyanet” Foundation (Türkiye Diyanet Vakfı), operating under the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Türkiye, has joined charitable initiatives conducted as part of the nationwide campaign in Uzbekistan, “Ramadan – Month of mercy, friendship and gratitude”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During a charitable event organised in coordination with the Public Charity Foundation “Vaqf” under the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, “Türkiye Diyanet Foundation” provided food assistance to 900 families in Uzbekistan’s southern Surkhandarya Region.

Speaking on the occasion, a representative of the Presidency of Religious Affairs and Counsellor at the Embassy of Türkiye in Tashkent, Mahmut Türk, underscored the spiritual and unifying significance of the holy month.

“May the blessed month of Ramadan bring grace and prosperity to both Türkiye and the brotherly people of Uzbekistan. May it usher in peace and well-being across all Turkic and Muslim nations. May our fraternity grow ever stronger”, - he said.

He noted that Ramadan in Uzbekistan is observed with particular reverence and warmth, highlighting the country’s deeply rooted family traditions. “During this sacred period, families gather around a single table, showing care and respect to elders and children alike. The recitation of the Holy Qur’an and the performance of Taraweeh prayers are carried out freely and with devotion. All of this fills us with profound joy.

Mahmut Turk also expressed his personal appreciation for spending Ramadan in Uzbekistan, extending his heartfelt congratulations to the Uzbek people on the occasion of the holy month.
