GRANADA, September 5. /Dunyo IA/. The exhibition titled "Journey to Samarkand: The diplomatic mission of Ruy González de Clavijo in the state of Amir Timur (1403–1406)" has been inaugurated at the headquarters of the "Andalusia Heritage" Foundation in Granada, Spain, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The exhibition introduces visitors to one of the most remarkable episodes of medieval diplomacy between Castile and the East.
The exhibition is curated by Professor Rafael López Guzmán of the University of Granada. The display prominently features crucial information about the envoy’s route from Cádiz to Samarkand, passing through Constantinople, Anatolia, Armenia, Persia, and Transoxiana. Artifacts from private collections and institutions, such as the "Andalusian Heritage" Foundation, the Royal Hospital Library at the University of Granada, and the Royal Church, are presented to visitors.
According to the organizers, the exhibition offers not only an opportunity to explore rare artifacts but also provides insight into the diplomatic dialogues, cultural exchanges, and mutual perceptions between East and West at the beginning of the 15th century. Additionally, it introduces the European public to the historical significance of Samarkand, highlighting the Timurid heritage which played a vital role not only in Uzbekistan but across the entire Euro-Asian region.
The exhibition will remain open until January 9, 2026.
