Uzbekistan and Khakassia define concrete areas for regional cooperation

ABAKAN, December 26. /Dunyo IA/. Aslam Akbarov, Consul General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk, held an extended meeting with Roman Kovtun, Minister of Economic Development of the Republic of Khakassia, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The meeting focused on expanding bilateral interregional cooperation in the fields of agriculture, livestock farming, tourism and culture. The talks were also attended by representatives of the “Khakassia Tourism Information Center”, Abakan Airport as well as the republic’s ministries of transport and agriculture.
The Consul General of Uzbekistan placed particular emphasis on increasing supplies of fruit and vegetable products from Uzbekistan as well as on establishing exports of cattle from Khakassia. It was noted that the region’s livestock population includes approximately 182,000 head of cattle and around 435,000 horses, with eight municipal organizations engaged in pedigree livestock breeding.
Both sides underlined the importance of intensifying interregional cooperation, particularly with Uzbekistan’s Fergana Region. In this context, discussions covered the organization of a Khakassia business mission to the Fergana Region next year as well as Khakassia’s interest in establishing modern greenhouse complexes in the region with the participation of Uzbek agricultural specialists. Preparations are currently underway between khokimiyat of the Fergana Region and Government of Khakassia to sign a “Roadmap” for Joint Actions.
Special attention was also given to tourism development and cultural-humanitarian cooperation. The Uzbek side proposed holding a presentation of Uzbekistan’s tourism and cultural potential in Khakassia in 2026, along with organizing the first familiarization tour to Uzbekistan for leading tour operators from the republic.
In addition, Russian side expressed interest in the possible launch of a direct charter flight on the Tashkent-Abakan route, which, according to participants, would contribute to strengthening tourism and cultural ties between the two regions.
Following the talks, Russian side prepared a meeting protocol, which will serve as a foundation for further instructions to Khakassia’s relevant government agencies.
