Tashkent Summit aims to find solutions to Central Asia’s water scarcity

ТASHKENT, January 19. /Dunyo IA/.  On 25–26 March 2026, the capital of Uzbekistan will host the “International Water Forum – Tashkent Water Week”, offering a unique platform for sharing expertise, discussing innovative approaches and developing joint strategies for water resource management, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Central Asia is facing a growing water scarcity driven by climate change, increasing demand for drinking water and irrigation and expanding economic needs. At the same time, rising water requirements to support population growth and economic development are placing additional pressure on the agricultural sector, making the efficient use of water resources essential. Under these circumstances, effective and sustainable water management has become a strategic priority, directly influencing the strengthening of regional cooperation and enhancing Central Asia’s role in the global water cycle.

“Tashkent Water Week 2026” will bring together government agencies, international organizations, leading scientists, businesses and the expert community, providing a platform to address transboundary water security challenges, showcase innovative management and technological solutions and develop practical strategies for the sustainable use of water resources. The forum aims to strengthen regional cooperation and promote sustainable water-use models, supporting the long-term water and economic development of Central Asia.

In recent years, countries in the region have held international conferences, consultative meetings and expert dialogues focused on the sustainable use and protection of water resources. In this context, “Tashkent Water Week 2026” is designed to complement and expand existing cooperation formats, creating a multilateral platform for sharing experiences and discussing modern approaches to water resource management at both the regional and global levels.
