NHK Reports: Japan pledges comprehensive support for Uzbekistan’s sustainable development through private sector initiatives

TOKYO, December 23. /Dunyo IA/. Japan’s leading broadcaster, “NHK”, aired a special report covering President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s high-level meetings with top Japanese corporate and financial leaders, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to “NHK”, President Mirziyoyev met with executives from major Japanese corporations and financial institutions, urging Japan’s private sector to invest in Uzbekistan’s strategically important mineral resources. The forum, attended by approximately 150 representatives from government bodies and business circles of both countries, was organized to strengthen bilateral economic ties.

During his address, President Mirziyoyev expressed hope that Japanese companies would actively support Uzbekistan’s accelerated industrialization, adoption of advanced technologies and economic reforms aimed at boosting labor productivity and export potential. He highlighted that ensuring stable energy supplies and developing critical mineral resources remain key priorities for attracting foreign investment.

“NHK” reported that leading the Japanese delegation, Ryosei Akazawa,  Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry reaffirmed Japan’s readiness to contribute to Uzbekistan’s sustainable development through comprehensive support for private-sector initiatives.

The forum also showcased ongoing and planned projects by Japanese companies already operating in Uzbekistan, particularly in renewable energy and mineral exploration and development. Additionally, a representative from an Uzbek company operating in the food and construction sectors emphasized Uzbekistan’s strong demand for advanced Japanese technologies and noted that the country’s investment climate has significantly improved in recent years.  

The “NHK” broadcast further underscored the region’s abundant mineral and energy resources, noting that Central Asia, including Uzbekistan, is becoming increasingly important for Japan’s economic security.
