Uzbekistan Enacts Law Regulating the Use of Artificial Intelligence

TASHKENT, January 24. /Dunyo IA/. The President of Uzbekistan signed the law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts in Connection with the Regulation of Relations Arising from the Use of Artificial Intelligence,” which regulates key aspects of AI use, including objectives, principles, directions of state policy, and liability for violations, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the law, the main objectives of regulating the use of artificial intelligence are to ensure human safety, protect life, health, freedom, honour, and dignity, and prevent violations of other inalienable rights of citizens. The law establishes general rules for the use of AI in the creation of information resources and the operation of information systems, and also defines the concept of “artificial intelligence” and the directions of state policy in this area.
The document introduces administrative liability for the unlawful processing and dissemination of personal data using AI technologies. Violations of the law carry fines ranging from 50 to 100 base calculation units (BCU) or administrative arrest of up to 15 days. Technical devices used to commit the offense are also subject to confiscation.
The law came into force on January 21, 2026.
