VIENNA, February 11. /Dunyo IA/.  A “roundtable” was held in the Austrian capital with the participation of Uzbek nationals working in UN structures and students studying at local universities, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) gave a presentation about their work.

Special attention was paid to combating illegal drug trafficking and preventing its spread, as well as providing technical assistance to countries in developing and improving national policies and legislation in the fields of drug control, crime prevention and anti-corruption.

Participants were also provided with information about educational programs, trainings, internships and initiatives for developing specialists in various UN fields, as well as prospects for further employment in international organizations.

The event also highlighted the 585th anniversary of the birth of the great thinker, poet, and statesman Alisher Navoi. Participants emphasized his outstanding contribution to world literature and rich spiritual-educational heritage, noting that copies of his manuscripts are preserved in the National Library of Vienna and studying his works is an important part of cultural heritage preservation.

At the end of the meeting, students received answers to their questions and expressed interest in holding such meetings regularly in the future.
