Ombudsman provides support and practical guidance to Uzbek Youth in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, January 27. /Dunyo IA/. As part of an official visit to Malaysia by a delegation of Uzbekistan led by Feruza Eshmatova, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman), a roundtable discussion was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan with the participation of Uzbek nationals pursuing their studies in Malaysia, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event was also attended by representatives and coordinators of the World Association of Uzbek Youth in Kuala Lumpur. Feruza Eshmatova briefed participants on the human rights reforms currently being implemented in Uzbekistan as well as on the work of the Ombudsman institution. She noted in particular that in 2025, the Ombudsman’s Office received a total of 26,000 appeals from citizens of Uzbekistan, foreign nationals, ombudspersons, stateless persons, public organisations and other legal entities.

Attention was also drawn to the growing number of appeals submitted through modern information and communication technologies, including the virtual reception platform, a national hotline and a dedicated mobile application, reflecting increased public engagement and accessibility.

It was emphasised that Uzbekistan is creating all necessary conditions for the comprehensive development of young people and access to quality education, while ensuring the protection of the lawful rights and interests of Uzbek youth studying abroad remains one of the key priorities of state policy.

The event, conducted in an interactive dialogue format, featured an exchange of views on supporting Uzbek youth in Malaysia and organising a variety of cultural and educational initiatives involving young nationals. Participants shared new ideas, proposals and initiatives, reflecting the proactive engagement of Uzbekistan’s youth abroad.

During the discussions, it was noted that the Embassy maintains continuous efforts to strengthen ties with Uzbek nationals, monitor their concerns and provide support in addressing any emerging issues. Young Uzbeks in Malaysia for study or work purposes were also reminded of the importance of complying with the host country’s laws.

Farhod Akhunov, a representative of the World Association of Youth of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, highlighted the organisation’s work, noting that one of its key objectives is to unite young Uzbeks in Malaysia, understand their challenges and provide advisory support. The session concluded with participants receiving answers to all their questions, underlining the Embassy’s commitment to fostering dialogue and ensuring the well-being of Uzbek youth abroad.

Ibrokhim Normukhamedov, a student at “Xiamen” University in Malaysia, spoke to Dunyo Information Agency, sharing his experiences:

- I currently serve as the coordinator of the World Association of Youth of Uzbekistan in Malaysia”, - he said, highlighting his role in connecting young Uzbeks and supporting their activities within the local community.

During the “roundtable” discussion with Feruza Eshmatova, the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman), I gained valuable and important insights.

The interactive dialogue allowed for an exchange of views on the benefits provided to young people, the conditions created for their development and the protection of their lawful rights and interests. Participants received recommendations and guidance on questions of concern and had the opportunity to present their own proposals.

We were pleased with the open and constructive nature of the dialogue. I would like to encourage my fellow students to make full use of the opportunities available and strive to become highly qualified professionals capable of making a meaningful contribution to the development of Uzbekistan.
