GENEVA, September 26. /Dunyo IA/. Uzbekistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Eldiyor Toshmatov, met with International Social Security Association (ISSA) Secretary General Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The sides reviewed the current state and prospects for developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and ISSA in the field of social protection.

Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano praised Uzbekistan’s active participation in the association’s activities and the reforms being implemented to improve the social security system and expand access to social protection measures.

Particular attention was given to the World Summit “Investing in the Well-Being of Children: Towards Sustainable and Equitable Development for Future Generations,” which will be held in Samarkand on October 21-22, 2026.

The ISSA Secretary General welcomed Uzbekistan’s hosting of the international event and expressed the association’s readiness to participate in the summit.

The sides also agreed to expand practical cooperation, including the exchange of best practices and the potential organization of ISSA events in Uzbekistan.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their interest in further strengthening cooperation and implementing joint initiatives in social protection.
