YEREVAN, June 8. /Dunyo IA/. The ruling party of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, “Civil Contract,” is confidently leading in the parliamentary elections after more than 90% of ballots have been counted, reports Dunyo IA correspondent citing the news agency Armenpress.

According to preliminary results, the party has secured about 49.81% (727,160 votes), ensuring a majority in parliament. Opposition blocs “Strong Armenia” (23.29%) and “Armenia” (9.94%), as well as the “Prosperous Armenia” party (4%), are also expected to enter the legislature.

At this stage, results from 2,005 polling stations have been processed, with a total voter turnout of 1,476,916 people.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared victory for his political force and announced plans to form a government. He emphasized a course toward normalizing relations with Turkey and Azerbaijan, as well as continuing Armenia’s rapprochement with the European Union while maintaining its membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

Opposition forces have alleged irregularities during the voting process and accused the authorities of exerting pressure on the electoral commission. They also criticized the Prime Minister’s premature declaration of victory before the completion of vote counting.

The elections were held amid intense political debate and shifting foreign policy dynamics in Armenia. A total of 18 political forces participated in the vote. Under electoral law, a party can independently form a government if it secures at least 52% of parliamentary seats.
