WASHINGTON, July 17. /Dunyo IA/. U.S. President Donald Trump accused China of interfering in the 2020 election, announced the declassification of intelligence data, and called for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the possible concealment of information, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the president, since 2020 China has carried out a large-scale operation to collect data on American voters. He claims that Beijing illegally obtained information on 220 million citizens, including names, addresses, phone numbers, and party affiliation.

“I’m announcing the immediate declassification and release of critical intelligence, revealing shocking vulnerabilities in our election infrastructure,” the American leader said in a televised address to the nation.

Donald Trump claims that the obtained information was used in attempts to influence the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, which Joe Biden won. According to him, China allegedly engaged in vote manipulation and financed the publication of negative materials about him in American media.

He also stated that the Department of Homeland Security identified about 278,000 registered voters who are not U.S. citizens. At the same time, he emphasized that the actual number could be higher because not all states provided the necessary data.

In his address, the president instructed the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the CIA to determine why information about the alleged threats was not brought to the attention of the country's leadership, as well as to identify those involved in concealing it.

“Investigate how and why such crucial information was hidden. To fire those involved in the cover up and to file criminal charges, if appropriate, against these people,” the head of state said.

Among the potential threats to U.S. election infrastructure, Donald Trump also named Russia, Iran, North Korea, and non-state groups.

The Chinese Embassy in Washington stated that China has never interfered in U.S. elections and adheres to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. The diplomatic mission emphasized that the electoral process in the United States is solely an internal matter of the country.

Meanwhile, U.S. media noted that a significant portion of registered voter lists in the United States is publicly available. In addition, CNN reported that the verification system used by authorities may mistakenly classify naturalized Americans who previously obtained citizenship as non-citizens.
