Uzbek Films Win Top Awards at International Film Festival in Sochi

SOCHI, June 28. /Dunyo IA/. The III International Film Festival “Eurasia-Kinofest” has concluded in Sochi, bringing together more than 700 filmmakers from 53 countries, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing “Mir Novostey”.

Over nine days, the festival screenings, creative meetings, and industry events were attended by more than 45,000 viewers.

The central themes of the films included family, memory, love, betrayal, the search for justice, and hope, reflecting shared human values across different cultures and nations.

A notable highlight of the competition was the success of Uzbek cinema. The award for Best Screenplay went to the film “Vata” (Cotton) directed by Rashid Malikov. A special prize for Best Foreign-Language Film in Russian was awarded to “Erta Ochilgan Lola” (Early-Bloomed Tulip) by Akhadjon Okhunov.

Organizers said the awards further confirm the growing international recognition of Uzbek cinema. They also noted that the festival once again demonstrated the unifying role of culture in fostering dialogue, mutual understanding, and friendship among nations.
