China reaffirmed its readiness to continue promoting the implementation of socio-economic reforms within the framework of the “New Uzbekistan” strategy

TASHKENT, May 18. /Dunyo IA/. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov held a meeting with the Ambassador of China Yu Jun, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the talks, the parties discussed priority areas for the further development of the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership. Satisfaction was expressed with the steady strengthening of Uzbek-Chinese relations, the intensification of interregional cooperation, as well as the maintenance of regular and substantive political dialogue at the highest and high levels.
It was noted that bilateral relations are based on the principles of mutual respect, trust, equality and mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as mutual support for each other’s core interests.
The sides noted that the eighth meeting of the Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee between China and Uzbekistan was successfully held at a high level in Beijing on May 7, 2026. Specific measures were agreed upon to further deepen cooperation in the political, trade-economic, investment, transport-logistics, energy, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
Special attention was paid to the development of joint infrastructure projects, expansion of mutual trade and investment, strengthening regional connectivity, and cooperation in high technologies, agriculture, security, and poverty reduction. The parties also confirmed their readiness to intensify humanitarian exchanges and cooperation between regions, universities, think tanks, and mass media outlets.
The Chinese side once again reaffirmed its support for Uzbekistan’s path of independent national development and expressed readiness to continue assisting the implementation of socio-economic reforms within the framework of the “New Uzbekistan” strategy. The Uzbek side noted that it firmly supports the One China principle and reiterated that the Government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing the whole of China. Uzbekistan also reaffirmed its consistent support for the peaceful development of cross-strait relations and for all efforts of the Chinese government aimed at achieving national reunification.
The parties expressed readiness to continue close working contacts on current issues of the bilateral agenda.
