KNNA Kabar: Uzbekistan’s election to the UN Statistical Commission marks clear evidence of international recognition for the country’s profound reforms

BISHKEK, April 30. /Dunyo IA/. The Kyrgyz national news agency Kabar published an article in both English and Russian, highlighting Uzbekistan’s election to the United Nations Statistical Commission, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The article reports that during the elections for the UN Statistical Commission for the 2026–2029 term, held in New York, Uzbekistan was unanimously elected to the body for the first time in its history.

"Established in 1947 as a functional body of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the Statistical Commission serves as the principal intergovernmental organization responsible for setting the strategic direction of international statistics. It coordinates the development and implementation of universal statistical standards and methodological principles. The Commission consists of 24 member states elected for four-year terms, with representation distributed geographically", the article states.

It is emphasized that Uzbekistan’s election to this body stands as clear evidence of the international recognition of the profound reforms being carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the country’s growing role in global processes.

"Full membership in the Statistical Commission provides Uzbekistan with broad opportunities to contribute to shaping global statistical policy, showcase national experiences and reform achievements, study advanced international practices, and deepen international cooperation", concludes KNNA Kabar.
