KUALA LUMPUR, July 10. /Dunyo IA/. At the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur and the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, a delegation comprising the leadership of Malaysian tourism associations — MATTA, BUMITRA, and PAPUH — as well as representatives of more than 25 leading companies, visited Uzbekistan for the first time from July 3 to 9, 2025, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

To ensure broad media coverage of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential in Malaysia, the delegation also included well-known Malaysian actress and TV host Andrea Abdullah, who visited the country.

During the week-long visit, representatives of the Malaysian tourism sector toured the Jizzakh, Samarkand, and Bukhara regions, as well as the city of Tashkent. They were introduced to the country’s pilgrimage tourism potential, its rich cultural heritage, and a number of Islamic pilgrimage sites in these regions.

Presentations and B2B meetings were also held with the participation of tour operators from both countries, showcasing Uzbekistan’s tourism potential. As a result of these meetings, agreements were reached on attracting Malaysian tourists to Uzbekistan.

During the visit, representatives of the Malaysian tourism industry had the opportunity to fly on the Uzbekistan Airways route Kuala Lumpur–Tashkent–Kuala Lumpur and familiarize themselves with the services and facilities offered by the airline.

This info tour was organized as part of the implementation of the agreements reached during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Malaysia on February 4–5, 2025, aimed at widely promoting the potential of pilgrimage tourism to Uzbekistan.
