WASHINGTON, April 20. /Dunyo IA/. A cultural and diplomatic event dedicated to the 690th anniversary of the birth of statesman and military leader Amir Temur was held at the Elliott School of International Affairs of George Washington University, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The event brought together more than 150 participants and guests, including representatives of the U.S. Department of State, leading American and international experts in the fields of history, political science, and international relations, journalists, faculty members and students of the university, as well as representatives of the Uzbek diaspora and compatriots residing in the United States.
The key highlight of the event was the official premiere of the feature film “The Great Amir and Donna Maria” presented in the United States for the first time. The film attracted considerable interest from the audience due to its multilayered artistic structure, which intertwines the historical reconstruction of 15th-century events with a contemporary narrative line.
Following the screening, an official reception was held in an informal setting, during which participants discussed prospects for cooperation in the fields of science, education, and cultural diplomacy, and highly commended the level of organization of the event.
Within the framework of the program, a thematic roundtable was organized, dedicated to the historical role of Amir Temur and the civilizational significance of his era. Participants emphasized that the legacy of the great commander extends beyond military history and encompasses the establishment of an effective system of state governance, the development of diplomatic relations, as well as a substantial contribution to strengthening the cultural and scientific environment of his time.
Special attention during the discussion was given to the address by Professor Sebastien Peyrouse, Director of the Central Asia Program at the university. In his remarks, he noted that the figure of Amir Temur occupies a distinguished place in world history as an outstanding military commander and a visionary statesman.
