Construction of China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway progressing on schedule

TASHKENT, July 16 /Dunyo IA/. The Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Makhkamov held talks with Wang Jinxi Member of the Board and Vice Chairman of the China State Railway Group Corporation, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, the parties discussed bilateral cooperation in the transport sector, with particular emphasis on the implementation of the strategically important China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project.

The two sides noted that construction is progressing in line with the established schedule and underscored the project’s strategic importance for the development of regional transport corridors, the expansion of international freight traffic, and the strengthening of trade and economic ties.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on enhancing the competitiveness of the existing multimodal transport corridor linking China with Uzbekistan via Kyrgyzstan, improving logistics, and considering the possibility of granting Kashgar border railway station the status of an export terminal.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain regular monitoring of the construction progress, further expand practical cooperation, and continue close coordination across all areas of transport collaboration.
