IICA hosts talks with Senior Vice President of leading American think tank

TASHKENT, September 4. /Dunyo IA/. A meeting with Daniel Fitzgerald Runde, Senior Vice President of the American Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), was held at the International Institute of Central Asia (IICA), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the dialogue, the parties exchanged views on current issues of regional cooperation in trade and investment, transport and communications, as well as security and stability in Central Asia.

The American expert was briefed on Uzbekistan’s strategic goals and broader vision for a secure, resilient, and prosperous Central Asia.

Director of IICA Javlon Vakhabov particularly emphasized Uzbekistan’s strong commitment to further expanding and deepening regional cooperation. The need to strengthen intraregional trade, transport, and transit links was expressed in the context of Uzbekistan’s broader strategy to accelerate economic growth and ensure the well-being of its people.

Special attention was paid to the prospects for advancing multilateral cooperation with the United States in the C5+1 and B5+1 formats, particularly in the context of the first summit of the leaders of Central Asian countries and the United States in New York in September 2023 and the first meeting of representatives of the business community of our countries in Almaty in March.

The parties agreed that a regular exchange of views on these and other issues of regional development will contribute not only to the formation of future strategies for our countries but also to enriching the agenda of cooperation between the United States and Central Asia with new practical proposals and initiatives.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to maintain expert and analytical cooperation between IICA and CSIS, which will allow for more substantive and effective development of both bilateral and multilateral partnerships.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is an analytical institute based in Washington, D.C. It was founded at Georgetown University in 1962. CSIS conducts research on issues of politics and security, international relations, trade, technology, finance, energy and geostrategy.
