HELSINKI, February 13. /Dunyo IA/. A special event dedicated to Turkic Languages Day was held in the Finnish capital, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
A special event celebrating Turkic Languages Day was held in the Finnish capital, organized with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Riga, Embassies of Türkiye and Kazakhstan in Finland, the Honorary Consulate of Kyrgyzstan in Helsinki and the House of Azerbaijan.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of Finnish authorities, civil society organizations, members of the diplomatic corps, diaspora communities from Turkic countries and journalists.
Participants were briefed on the historical roots of Turkic languages, their rich cultural heritage and prospects for international cooperation. Special attention was given to UNESCO’s initiative to designate December 15 as World Turkic Languages Day, a decision that has received broad international support.
The program also highlighted the contributions of the renowned thinker and poet Alisher Navoi to the development of Turkic languages, whose legacy continues to be celebrated worldwide.
A dedicated segment of the event focused on the reforms of New Uzbekistan, including political, economic and social transformations, the country’s open foreign policy and efforts to strengthen regional cooperation. Finnish officials noted that trust, cultural affinity and strategic partnership among Turkic states are now reaching unprecedented levels.
Guests were treated to a rich cultural program, featuring exhibitions and tastings of national cuisine. Participants had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the history, traditions and contemporary development of Turkic peoples.
