Scientific and educational event dedicated to the 150th Anniversary of Mahmudkhodja Behbudi’s birth organized in Tokyo

TOKYO, April 25. /Dunyo IA/. With the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan, a scientific and educational event dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahmudkhodja Behbudi, a Jadidist, educator, writer, and public figure, was held at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event was attended by representatives of Japanese academic circles, university students, guests interested in cultural relations, as well as leading scholars from Uzbekistan and Turkiye. Active participation was provided by Japanese scholars studying the Jadid movement at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, along with over 40 students and postgraduates who study Central Asia, particularly the history of Uzbekistan, and the Uzbek language at the university.
Participants were presented with information about Behbudi's educational activities, particularly his contributions to the establishment of modern schools, the development of the press, and theatrical arts. His words, "Only through science and knowledge can a person serve their country and people", once again highlighted the decisive role of education in the development of society.
As part of the event, a screening of the documentary film "Mahmudkhodja Behbudi" took place, after which the participants exchanged ideas and discussed the significance of his works and life journey.
A special exhibition booth was set up at the venue, featuring books dedicated to the activities of the Jadid movement in Turkestan in the 20th century. The exhibition attracted significant interest from the guests and increased the educational value of the event.
Over 20 films dedicated to the Jadid movement were presented to the Japanese side.
The event has been recognized as an important step in strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and Japan.
