CAIRO, July 24. /Dunyo IA/. On the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Egypt, an online meeting was held between the head of "Agro Gold Premium" (Kashkadarya region), Shavkat Sultonov, and the CEO of the Egyptian company "EFC Plants Tissue Culture S.A.E.," Lubna Salem, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the talks, organizational and financial issues related to the supply of selected seed potatoes from Egypt to Uzbekistan were discussed.

The Uzbek side informed that a specially protected area has been prepared for planting seed potatoes in the initial phase, with plans to expand the cultivation area in subsequent stages. The Egyptian partners, in turn, confirmed their readiness to supply a sufficient volume of seed potatoes.

It was agreed that by the end of July, the Egyptian side would provide 500,000 "CARA" variety seed potatoes (G0 generation mini-tubers) free of charge to Uzbekistan.

The seed potatoes will be planted and propagated in the Kashkadarya region this year and subsequently distributed among local farmers.

It is noteworthy that this initiative is part of the implementation of the instructions given by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his visit to the Kashkadarya region on June 19–20 of this year. As a follow-up, a regional delegation visited Egypt, resulting in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of potato cultivation with "EFC Plants".
