ISLAMABAD, September 27. /Dunyo IA/.  Pakistani construction and infrastructure company “Habib Rafiq Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd.” has commenced the practical implementation of an investment project to establish a “smart city” in Khiva, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Project is the result of extensive negotiations between the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, the Khokimiyat of the Khorezm Region and “Habib Rafiq Engineering”.

Initiative provides for the expansion of Khiva's territory and the creation of a new urban district incorporating modern principles of urban planning.

Within the framework of the project, a phased construction of residential complexes, social and commercial facilities, transport and engineering infrastructure, utility utilities and other essential facilities for residents is planned.

To promote the project, with the assistance of the Embassy, the company's delegation visited the Khorezm Region several times. During the visits, specialists surveyed the proposed territories, after which the Khokimiyat of the Region and the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the investment project.

“Habib Rafiq Engineering” intends to utilize its accumulated experience in Pakistan in constructing large-scale urban and infrastructure facilities.

Project is expected to become one of the practical areas of economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan and will contribute to the formation of a modern urban infrastructure in Khiva.
