AARHUS, September 11. /Dunyo IA/.  Events dedicated to Uzbek national crafts and applied arts were held in the Danish city of Aarhus as part of the “Aarhus Festuge-2026” cultural festival, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Program, which ran from August 28^th to September 6^th, was organized with the participation of the “Uzbek Initiatives” Association in Denmark, “Hunarmand” Republican Association and Embassy of Uzbekistan in Stockholm.

A creative masterclass dedicated to the traditions of the renowned Rishtan school of ceramics took place at the “Åby” library. Residents of Aarhus hand-painted porcelain plates and bowls (pialas), utilizing the distinctive ornaments and colours characteristic of the Rishtan style.

Participants were briefed on the history of the Rishtan school, the distinct characteristics of its ornamentation and colour palette, the significance of traditional patterns, as well as the ancient craft traditions of the Fergana Valley and the heritage of Uzbek applied arts.

A key highlight of the event was the opportunity to experience the culture of Uzbekistan directly through creative engagement, enabling participants to work independently with national motifs and colors. This fostered a profound interest in the centuries-old crafting traditions, culture, and art of the Uzbek people.

Organizers emphasized that such initiatives contribute to the popularization of Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage in Europe, the strengthening of cultural ties between nations, and the heightening of interest in the country's history, arts and tourism potential.
