The anniversary of the People's Poet of Uzbekistan is commemorated in Turkey

ANKARA, February 27. /"Dunyo" IA/. In collaboration with the international organization TURKSOY and Haci Bayram Veli University in Ankara, the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan organized a presentation of Gafur Gulom’s book "Osmon to'la yulduzlar" ("A sky full of stars") in Turkish, marking the 120th anniversary of the poet’s birth.

Welcoming the participants were Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Turkey Alisher Agzamhodjaev, Secretary-General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, Advisor to the Minister of Culture of Uzbekistan Shavkat Artikov, and Vice-Rector of Haci Bayram Veli University professor Metin Orbay.
Ambassador Alisher Agzamkhojaev expressed special gratitude to the scientists and literary scholars who contributed to the organization of the event and participated in translating the book "A sky full of stars" into Turkish. He highlighted Gafur Gulom’s contributions during the tumultuous 20th century, noting the universal human themes reflected in his works. Particularly beloved among readers was "Shum bola" ("The Mischievous Boy").
The event emphasized the inclusion of "Shum bola" in the top 100 best works of children’s literature worldwide in 2023, highlighting its resonance with people due to its rich language, sincerity, and dramatic narrative.
During the event, Gafur Gulom’s daughter, Olmos Akhmedova, shared childhood memories and insights into her father’s literary legacy.
It’s noteworthy that last year, on the initiative of the state’s leadership, the 120th anniversary of Gafur Gulom was celebrated extensively.
