SEOUL, July 3. /Dunyo IA/. South Korean publication “AJP” has published an article in both English and Korean languages dedicated to the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Georgia and the prospects for further expanding Uzbek-Georgian trade target and economic cooperation, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Publication notes that the contemporary transformation of Uzbekistan's economy unlocks new opportunities for the expansion of bilateral trade. While the foundation of Uzbek exports previously consisted primarily of raw materials, today the Republic supplies high-value-added products, including copper wire, rolled metal, electrical engineering products, processed foods, and tobacco goods. Concurrently, Georgia is viewed as a promising market and a critical logistical bridge for the transit of Uzbek commodities to European markets via the South Caucasus and the Black Sea.
Particular attention is paid to the development of transport and logistics infrastructure. According to the publication, Uzbekistan is implementing an investment project to construct a multifunctional terminal in the Poti Free Industrial Zone on the Black Sea coast. It is noted that the facility will significantly expand the country's export capabilities, increase the efficiency of freight transportation along the Middle Corridor and strengthen transport connectivity between Central Asia and Europe.
Article emphasizes that significant potential for scaling up cooperation remains within the textile, leather and footwear, electrical manufacturing, and pharmaceutical sectors. In particular, the parties are discussing the simplification of registration procedures for Uzbek pharmaceutical products in the Georgian market, as well as the establishment of joint manufacturing projects involving Georgian companies.
According to the author of the publication, the establishment of a joint working group under the relevant ministries of trade and economy of the two countries will serve as an important mechanism for implementing the agreements reached, launching new investment projects and further strengthening the strategic economic partnership between Uzbekistan and Georgia.
