Belgium to Open Embassy in Tashkent

BRUSSELS, June 4. /Dunyo IA/. The Government of Belgium has decided to open an embassy in Tashkent, marking an important step in the development of bilateral relations with Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing Belgian publications “EU Reporter” and “EU Reflect.”

Diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Belgium were established in 1992. Since 1995, Uzbekistan has maintained an embassy in Brussels, which facilitates cooperation with both Belgium and European institutions. The opening of a Belgian embassy in Tashkent is seen as a new stage in bilateral partnership.

According to media reports, cooperation between the two countries has intensified in recent years, supported by reforms in Uzbekistan aimed at economic liberalization, improving the investment climate, and expanding international cooperation.

Uzbekistan and Belgium have been steadily developing collaboration in trade, investment, logistics, industry, education, and tourism. Inter-parliamentary ties, as well as regular dialogue at the government and business levels, also play an important role in strengthening relations.

The opening of Belgium’s diplomatic mission in Tashkent is expected to further expand political dialogue, increase mutual trade and investment, and facilitate the implementation of new joint projects.
