“DKNews”: Organization of Turkic States Member Countries emerge as a key link in the Eurasian Transport Network

ASTANA, October 15. /Dunyo IA/.  Kazakhstan’s “DKNews” has published an article entitled “OTS Member States: A Key Link in the Eurasian Space”, focusing on transport and logistics cooperation among member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Article notes that, amid shifts in global trade routes and disruptions to supply chains, cooperation among OTS member states is becoming one of the key drivers of regional integration. In 2025, organization's combined economic potential exceeded $2.4 trillion, with growth of 6.8 per cent — twice the global rate. Uzbekistan’s trade turnover with OTS countries increased by 14 per cent to reach $11 billion, while in the first six months of 2026, export and import freight traffic between Uzbekistan and OTS member states totalled 8.5 million tonnes, accounting for approximately 29 per cent of the country’s total international freight traffic.

Publication recalls the Gabala Declaration adopted at the 2025 summit and the “OTS+” format, as well as the memorandum on introducing the electronic consignment note system (“e-CMR”), signed in Bishkek, and the Turkistan Declaration, which sets out practical transport-related objectives. Addressing the Turkistan Summit, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted the importance of connecting the Middle Corridor with the “China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan” railway. The article also notes that the e-Permit system is now in use with all OTS member states.

Article emphasises the strategic importance of the “China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan” and “Uzbekistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan” railway projects. It also highlights a twofold increase in the transit of Uzbek cargo through the Port of Baku over the past five years, reaching 1.2 million tonnes in 2025. Publication concludes that cooperation within the OTS is expected to mark an important milestone towards establishing a unified transport space among the Turkic states.
