ISLAMABAD, October 13. /Dunyo IA/. Pakistani publication “Financia Digital News” published an article headlined “Uzbekistan has brought economic cooperation with Turkic states to a practical stage”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the publication, Organization of Turkic States (OTS) currently encompasses one of the major economic zones connecting the markets of Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and Europe through Turkiye. By the end of 2025, the combined foreign trade turnover of the OTS member states exceeded $1.2 trillion. These figures demonstrate the existence of a substantial market for the development of economic cooperation within the OTS space.
Article provides a detailed analysis of Uzbekistan's economic ties with the member states of the Organization of Turkic States. It highlights that Uzbekistan's economic relations with the Turkic states have become an important direction for the diversification of its foreign trade.
“In 2025, Uzbekistan's total foreign trade turnover reached $81.2 billion. Of this, exports amounted to $33.8 billion and imports totalled $47.4 billion. Among the country's largest trading partners are Kazakhstan, with a trade turnover of 5 billion dollars, and Turkiye, with an indicator of $3 billion”, online publication writes.
Kazakhstan and Turkiye account for nearly one-tenth of Uzbekistan's foreign trade. At the same time, taking into account economic ties with Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Hungary, the OTS space serves as an independent regional trading market for Uzbekistan.
Structure reflects two important features. First, Uzbekistan's exports to the OTS market are not limited to raw materials: a significant share consists of industrial goods and machinery. Second, the presence of energy resources, industrial goods and equipment in the import structure indicates that trade with the OTS countries is also linked to domestic production processes.
In this regard, at the next stage, along with trade turnover volumes, the level of mutual industrial cooperation will also become an important indicator.
Pakistani media also note that concurrently with the development of trade ties, the inflow of investments from the OTS countries to Uzbekistan has significantly increased.
“In 2017–2025, the volume of investments attracted from the OTS countries into the economy of Uzbekistan exceeded $11.5 billion. In 2025 alone, $3.8 billion of investments were attracted. Turkiye, having invested $2.4 billion, became Uzbekistan's largest investor among the OTS countries. The funds were primarily directed into the manufacturing industry, energy, agriculture, construction and logistics”, publication emphasizes.
Article also notes that one of the most important institutional changes in the economic architecture of the OTS was the transition of the Turkic Investment Fund to practical activity.
“In 2025, its authorized capital was increased from $500 million to $600 million. Uzbekistan's share amounts to $100 million. The economic significance of the fund is determined not only by the size of its own capital. The key issue lies in the ability to use this capital to attract funds from other international financial institutions”, “Financia Digital News” notes.
