MUSCAT, July 23. /Dunyo IA/. Oman Daily, Oman's official newspaper, has published an article highlighting Uzbekistan's large-scale reforms, their tangible outcomes, and the country's growing international standing, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The publication notes that New Uzbekistan is consistently pursuing a course of modernization, openness, and sustainable development, creating favourable conditions for improving people's well-being, advancing economic growth, and expanding international cooperation.

Particular attention is given to the reform of the mahalla institution. The newspaper emphasizes that, at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the mahalla is being transformed into a modern center of community governance, economic development, and social services. It highlights the expanded powers of mahalla chairpersons, increased funding for local budgets, and the introduction of new mechanisms to support entrepreneurship, create jobs, and raise household incomes.

The article also informs readers about measures aimed at strengthening the financial autonomy of mahallas, introducing a grant system to support local initiatives, enhancing the effectiveness of the “Mahalla Seven” framework, and establishing the National Institute for Mahalla Development. It further notes that 2026 has been declared the Year of Mahalla Development and Community Empowerment in Uzbekistan.

A separate section of the publication is devoted to Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
