BISHKEK, August 15. /Dunyo IA/.  Popular Kyrgyz newspaper “Vecherniy Bishkek” has published an article on the prospects for developing educational and scientific cooperation among the Central Asian states within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Author highlights that Central Asia has historically been a space where different civilizations, cultures, scientific schools and centers of enlightenment interacted. Today, this heritage is being given new content through the expansion of academic mobility, joint research, knowledge sharing, and the development of interstate cooperation in education and science.

“The Great Silk Road contributed not only to trade exchange, but also to the dissemination of scientific ideas, knowledge and educational practices. The Eastern Renaissance and the Jadid movement, which advocated the modernisation of education and the advancement of enlightenment, hold a special place in the region’s historical heritage”, newspaper quotes.

Publication emphasises that current processes of regional rapprochement are creating conditions for the formation of a common space for development, in which education and science can become key factors in strengthening trust, mutual understanding and sustainable development.

Particular attention is paid to the role of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) as a platform not only for political and economic, but also for scientific and technological cooperation. The expansion of academic mobility, mutual recognition of qualifications and educational documents, implementation of joint research projects, and development of the SCO University network are regarded as important areas of further integration.

As noted in the article, particular importance is attached to training a new generation of specialists capable of jointly addressing the region’s pressing challenges - from digitization and the introduction of artificial intelligence to environmental security, the development of “green” technologies and the rational use of natural resources.

Article concludes by emphasizing that the integration of education and science in Central Asia and the broader SCO space is gradually moving beyond traditional inter-university cooperation and taking on the character of a long-term strategic investment in the sustainable development of the region.
