Global Korea Post: Uzbekistan–Georgia cooperation strengthens transport connectivity between Central Asia and the South Caucasus

SEOUL, July 2. /Dunyo IA/. South Korean publication Global Korea Post has published an article highlighting the development of transport cooperation between Uzbekistan and Georgia, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The article notes that amid the transformation of global supply chains, the partnership between Uzbekistan and Georgia is acquiring growing strategic importance. For Uzbekistan, Georgia serves as a vital gateway to European markets through its Black Sea ports, while for Georgia, cooperation with Uzbekistan creates additional opportunities to expand trade links with Central Asia, China, and South Asia.

Particular attention is paid to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor), which is emerging as one of the key alternatives to traditional East–West trade routes. According to the publication, by the end of 2025, the volume of Uzbek cargo transported via the corridor had reached 1.2 million tonnes, doubling compared to the previous period. Total freight traffic between Uzbekistan and Georgia amounted to 146,800 tonnes, while rail freight transportation increased by 56 percent.

The authors also emphasize the importance of the CASCA+ international transport route, which connects the countries of Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Türkiye, and Europe. In addition, the article highlights the prospects for implementing major infrastructure projects, including the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan railway corridors.

According to Global Korea Post, the continued development of these transport corridors and the further strengthening of Uzbek-Georgian cooperation will contribute to expanding trade and economic ties and enhancing transport connectivity across the Eurasian region.
