LONDON, September 17. /Dunyo IA/. Popular British scientific online publication “Heritage Daily” has published articles dedicated to unique archaeological finds discovered in the Samarkand region, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

In the publication titled “Bronze jewellery offers clues to ancient burial found in Uzbekistan”, note is made of an ancient burial accidentally discovered in the Payaryk district of the Samarkand region.

During earthworks, a local resident uncovered human remains, bronze bracelets featuring conical ends and spiral ornamentation, as well as small beads. According to the preliminary assessment of specialists, these artefacts are comparable to materials from the Late Bronze Age (13^th  - 10^th centuries BC) previously discovered in the Zarafshan Valley.

Article titled “Plaster sculpture head found among temple ruins in Kurgantepe” reports on the excavations of the early medieval complex of Kurgantepe in the Urgut district of Samarkand. Archaeologists discovered a plaster sculpture head among the temple ruins, the iconography of which is of particular value for studying the artistic and religious traditions of Sogdiana, where wall paintings depicting a four-armed deity had previously been found.

Publication concludes that the regular discoveries of monuments dating from the Bronze Age to the early Middle Ages confirm the rich potential of Uzbekistan’s historical and cultural heritage.
