ISLAMABAD, October 5. /Dunyo IA/. Pakistan’s national news agency, “Associated Press of Pakistan” (APP), has published an article on ties between Uzbekistan and the member states of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
“Expanding Uzbekistan’s exports and developing industrial cooperation require reliable logistics, access to capital, as well as stable and predictable conditions in foreign markets. These tasks hold an important place on the economic agenda of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), which brings together 28 states”, article says.
Publication reports that the Seventh CICA Summit will be held in Baku under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan. As “APP” writes, CICA member states include Uzbekistan’s major trading partners. In the first half of 2026, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Türkiye and Afghanistan together accounted for nearly 53 percent of Uzbekistan’s total foreign trade turnover.
A network of complementary transport corridors is becoming increasingly important when working with different markets, making it possible to choose freight delivery routes based on cost and transit times. The issue of developing production and logistics links between Central Asia and South and East Asia, as well as the Middle East, was identified by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev as one of the economic priorities at the 2022 CICA Summit in Astana.
Publication notes that the development of the knowledge economy and modern technologies is also among the priorities. Practical aspects of this agenda were discussed in June 2026 at the Second Termez Dialogue on Connectivity between Central and South Asia. Held with the participation of the CICA Secretariat, the event brought together representatives of 17 CICA member states.
CICA Business Council also creates additional opportunities for cooperation in the field of entrepreneurship, promoting interaction among business communities and associations of the member states.
Preparation of joint projects also requires coordination of sources of financing. Uzbek side has the opportunity to present initiatives in logistics, energy and industry to potential investors, as well as discuss the conditions for their implementation.
In conclusion, publication emphasizes that participation in multilateral formats makes it possible to build on established partnerships when entering the markets of new countries and preparing joint projects, with its results measured by the conclusion of long-term export contracts and an increase in the amount of value added generated in Uzbekistan.
