“Reuters”: The success of Uzbekistan's first IPO in London is expected to pave the way for new listings

LONDON, May 23. /Dunyo IA/.  Marius Dan, CEO for Central Asia at Templeton Global Investments stated in an interview with “Reuters” that the international IPO of the National Investment Fund of Uzbekistan on the London Stock Exchange could become an incentive for other Uzbek companies to enter international markets, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to him, the share listing generated high interest from global institutional investors. The total volume of bids exceeded 2.8 billion dollars, which, as Dan noted, should open the path for future IPOs of both state-owned and private companies of Uzbekistan.

“Reuters” reminded that within the framework of economic reforms carried out in the country, a presidential decree had been previously adopted, providing for the sale of minority stakes in a number of large enterprises in the period from 2025 to 2028. Among the possible candidates were state-owned gold mining and uranium companies, as well as the national airline.

LSEG, the company that operates the London Stock Exchange, called the listing the largest IPO on the platform this year.

National Investment Fund is managed by the American investment company “Franklin Templeton”. The fund holds minority stakes in major state-owned companies operating in the sectors of energy, utilities, transport, and infrastructure.

As Marius Dan noted, the fund also aims to improve the quality of corporate governance, introduce international standards and appoint independent directors and financial executives.

According to “Reuters”, Uzbekistan's economy grew by 7.7% in 2025. The growth was driven by a young population, an expanding domestic market, and high gold exports. It is emphasized that the economic reforms carried out in the country are strengthening the interest of international investors in Uzbekistan.
