RIYADH, March 24. /Dunyo IA/. An article dedicated to the official opening ceremony of the Center of Islamic Civilization has been published on the website of the Saudi newspaper “Okaz”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Article notes that President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, inaugurated Center of Islamic Civilization in the capital city of Tashkent in a particularly spiritual atmosphere during the blessed month of Ramadan. This event reflects Uzbekistan’s aspiration to highlight its Islamic heritage and strengthen its cultural presence on the international stage.
It further states that a significant number of official, religious and diplomatic representatives attended the ceremony. Special mention is made of the Saudi side, which presented a blessed gift - a fragment of the Kaaba covering (Kiswah), conveyed by order of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. According to “Okaz”, this gesture symbolizes the depth of fraternal relations between the two countries and underscores the leading role of the Kingdom in serving Islam.
It is emphasized that Center represents a significant contribution to the global Islamic heritage. Its collections include rare exhibits, among which a place of particular prominence is occupied by the Qur’an of Uthman, along with thousands of manuscripts and historical artifacts. The fragment of the Kiswah symbolizes the strong ties between Riyadh and Tashkent, as well as the Kingdom’s support for cultural initiatives that strengthen Islamic identity at the global level.
In this context, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Saudi Arabia Nodirjon Turgunov, in his comments to “Okaz”, emphasized that “the transfer of a fragment of the Kiswah to the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent carries profound symbolic significance, confirms the strength of bilateral relations, and strengthens cultural and religious ties between the fraternal peoples”.
In conclusion, publication cites Ambassador’s remarks that the Kingdom represents a key partner of Uzbekistan in the field of cultural and Islamic cooperation, and that this support contributes to transforming the Center into a scientific and spiritual beacon within the Islamic world.
