ISLAMABAD, October 16. /Dunyo IA/. Pakistani publication “The Diplomatic Insight” has published an article entitled “The Turkic World Emerging as One of Eurasia’s Most Attractive Tourism Destinations”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Article notes that tourism has become one of Uzbekistan’s strategic development sectors in recent years, playing an important role not only in the economy but also in strengthening international ties, promoting cultural exchange and advancing people-to-people diplomacy. The development of tourism cooperation with member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is of particular importance to Uzbekistan. The publication recalls that since Uzbekistan joined the OTS in 2019, cooperation in this field has steadily progressed, with the establishment of the OTS Tourism Council marking one of the key milestones.
Among the practical initiatives highlighted is the development of a unified tourist route, the “Great Silk Road”, connecting major cultural and historical centres of Turkic civilisation, from Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva to Baku, Almaty, Bishkek and Ankara. According to the publication, Uzbekistan cooperates with universities in Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and other OTS member states on student exchanges, internships, seminars and joint research. Bilateral agreements have also facilitated visa-free travel between Uzbekistan and the organisation’s member states.
Publication reports that the total number of tourists arriving from the OTS region exceeded 6.15 million in 2025.
Article concludes that the Turkic world has significant potential to become one of Eurasia’s most attractive and sustainable tourism destinations. Uzbekistan, it adds, is ready to continue playing an active role in this process by promoting new projects and supporting the development of a common tourism space across the Turkic states.
