ISLAMABAD, September 30. /Dunyo IA/. Pakistan’s “The World News” has published an article titled “Uzbekistan and the UN: From National Initiatives to the Global Agenda”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Author notes that the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly marked a new stage in Uzbekistan’s foreign policy.
“On September 23, Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva addressed the General Debate of the General Assembly on behalf of Uzbekistan. In her official address, the course chosen by the country was defined through three key concepts: openness, good-neighbourly relations and dialogue with the world”, article states.
Publication also emphasizes that Uzbekistan supported the UN Secretary-General’s “UN80” initiative, aimed at adapting the Organization to contemporary requirements.
According to the author, these approaches resonate with discussions currently taking place within the United Nations itself. Against the backdrop of a changing global balance of power, issues related to enhancing the representativeness of multilateral institutions, their effectiveness and their ability to ensure the implementation of adopted decisions are becoming increasingly relevant.
“Ideas and initiatives put forward in New York demonstrate an increasingly strong connection between domestic reforms, the new atmosphere of cooperation that has emerged in Central Asia and the search for solutions to global challenges. Most importantly, Uzbekistan is not limiting itself to merely responding to the international agenda, but is putting forward proposals aimed at shaping its future directions”, - “The World News” writes.
