“The World News”: Uzbekistan consistently strengthens its position as one of the premier and most popular destinations for pilgrimage tourism

ISLAMABAD, June 29. /Dunyo IA/.  Pakistani online publication “The World News” has published an article titled “The 4th International Exhibition Umrah Plus and Pilgrimage Tourism” takes place in Tashkent”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Publication notes that on June 27 of this year, the 4th International Exhibition “Umrah Plus and Pilgrimage Tourism” commenced its work in Tashkent, organized by the Tourism Committee in cooperation with the Association of Umrah Tourism Organizations.

As the publication notes, the event is attended by more than 200 representatives of tour operators, the hospitality industry, and transport companies from Central Asian countries, Türkiye, Russia, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.

“Over the course of two days, participants are holding B2B meetings, business negotiations and taking part in presentations dedicated to the tourism potential of Uzbekistan. The discussions focus on the prospects for the development of pilgrimage tourism and the expansion of international cooperation”, - article states.

It is emphasized that the current exhibition has become a logical continuation of the project presentations previously held in Türkiye, Malaysia and Indonesia. It opens up new opportunities for the international promotion of the “Umrah Plus” program, which envisions combining pilgrimage with travel through the tourist cities of Uzbekistan.

During the exhibition, special emphasis is placed on developing new “Umrah Plus” itineraries that integrate the Umrah pilgrimage with tours of Uzbek cities. Based on the outcomes of the business talks, the parties expect to conclude approximately 100 cooperation agreements. These pacts are designed to introduce innovative tourism products and solidify partnerships between domestic and international enterprises.

“A guided tour of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan was additionally arranged for the international attendees. Moreover, an agreement was secured to integrate this prominent landmark into the core pilgrimage itineraries offered to overseas travellers”, - the media outlet reports.

Publication highlights that Uzbekistan continues to steadily solidify its robust position as a premier and highly promising destination for pilgrimage tourism. According to the article, the republic welcomed over 5.3 million foreign tourists during the first five months of 2026 alone.
