New permanent representative of Uzbekistan to the UN appointed

TASHKENT, 5 August. /IA "Dunyo"/. On August 3, by the decision of the Kengash of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Ulugbek Lapasov was appointed Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN in New York, a "Dunyo" information agency correspondent reports citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Prior to his appointment, Ulugbek Lapasov worked as the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva (Switzerland).

He's 40 years old. He graduated from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent, as well as programs from a number of foreign universities. In the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he began as an intern, worked in the central office and diplomatic missions abroad. Since 2016, Counselor, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim, Permanent Representative to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador. Speaks French, English, Russian.

Ulugbek Lapasov will replace Bakhtiyor Ibragimov in New York, who in May 2017 was appointed Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN (New York). In June 2019, at the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, Uzbekistan was elected for the first time as Vice-Chairman of the next session, whose duties Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, as a permanent representative of our country, performed at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly from September 2019 to September 2020.
