Delegations from 19 top Hungarian universities to visit Uzbekistan

BUDAPEST, February 25. /Dunyo IA/. At the beginning of March, a delegation of rectors and representatives from 19 leading Hungarian universities is expected to visit Uzbekistan to participate in the III Uzbekistan Hungary Rectors’ Forum, which will be held in Samarkand, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Preparations for the event scheduled for March 5 were discussed during meetings between Oybek Shakhavdinov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan and Professor Béla Merkely, Rector of Semmelweis University and President of the Conference of Hungarian Rectors.
The parties reviewed both organizational and substantive aspects of the forum, as well as prospects for implementing joint educational and scientific projects.
It was noted that the Hungarian side attaches particular importance to the upcoming event. Participation of representatives from 19 Hungarian higher education institutions has been confirmed, including 11 rectors and 6 vice-rectors. Observers emphasised that such a high level of representation from Hungary’s academic community at an international educational platform is unprecedented.
As part of the visit, the official inauguration of the Innovation Technopark in Jizzakh is also planned, with participation from Óbuda University, Jizzakh Polytechnic Institute, Jizzakh Regional Hokimiyat, representatives from Uzbekistan’s industrial and business sectors, as well as Hungarian investors and universities.
The discussions also focused on developing cooperation between Semmelweis University and Uzbek higher education institutions, highlighting mutual interest in expanding direct contacts, launching joint educational programs, scientific research and innovative projects.
Both sides confirmed their readiness to continue constructive dialogue and to practically advance new avenues of collaboration.
The upcoming forum and the visit of leaders from Hungary’s leading universities are expected to showcase the sustained momentum of bilateral cooperation in the education sector, elevating academic ties to a qualitatively new level and positioning them as a key driver of multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and Hungary.
