Egyptian media: Tashkent - Cairo relations contribute to strengthening stability and intercultural dialogue in Central Asia and the Middle East

CAIRO, February 25. /Dunyo IA/. Leading Egyptian online news platforms, including “Al-Youm Al-Sabaa”, “Al Diplomacy” and “Al-Khabar Al-Youm”, have published extensive coverage highlighting the dynamic and steadily expanding partnership between Uzbekistan and Egypt, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The articles highlight that Muzaffar Kamilov, Rector of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and member of the Executive Council of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), underlined Egypt’s distinguished role as one of the world’s oldest centers of civilization and a leading state within the Islamic world.

The coverage emphasizes that the friendship between Uzbekistan and Egypt is rooted in centuries of shared history. The scholarly heritage of luminaries such as Ahmad al-Farghani, who lived and conducted his scientific work in Egypt, symbolizes the enduring historical and cultural closeness of the two peoples.

The publications further note that Egypt was among the first countries to recognise Uzbekistan’s independence in 1991 and that diplomatic relations established in 1992 have since fostered steadily deepening cooperation. Thanks to the political will and wise policies of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, bilateral relations have now reached the level of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, reflecting a long-term commitment to institutionalised, mutually beneficial collaboration.

The publications report that in recent years, trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Egypt has grown significantly: the volume of bilateral trade has increased several fold, reaching nearly USD 55 million by the end of 2024.

The articles also highlight expanding engagement in the socio-cultural sphere. Notably, there has been a rise in tourism flows, the development of religious tourism in Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, as well as strengthened collaboration with Al-Azhar University, whose representatives have introduced educational initiatives and donated scientific literature to Uzbek higher education institutions.

Egyptian media emphasize that in general, Egyptian-Uzbek relations are based on mutual respect, trust, and a convergence of interests. These relations have entered a new phase of comprehensive strategic partnership, which not only serves the interests of both countries but also contributes to strengthening stability, development, and intercultural dialogue in Central Asia and the Middle East, and lays the foundation for a prosperous future for both peoples.
