DOHA, August 28. /Dunyo IA/.  Qatar-based “Al Jazeera” television channel took part in the international media forum “Center of Islamic Civilization: New Perspective, New Discoveries”, which is being held in Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

In this regard, “Al Jazeera” published an article on the role of the media in promoting the heritage of Islamic civilization.

Around 250 representatives from dozens of countries – journalists, scholars and researchers – are participating in the forum. Participants are discussing the role of modern media in presenting the heritage of Islamic civilization objectively.

Press Secretary to the President of Uzbekistan Shirzad Asadov noted that this heritage is the common heritage of all humanity and requires its responsible presentation to a global audience.

Claus Strunz, CEO and Editorial Director of “Euronews”, emphasised Uzbekistan’s role in promoting the heritage of Islam and noted the insufficient coverage of the history of Central Asia in international media.

Firdavs Abdukhaliqov, Director of the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, called for greater use of modern media to promote heritage and counter stereotypes about Islam.

As part of the forum, the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan and the University of Journalism and Mass Communications of Uzbekistan signed an agreement on joint programs for young journalists.
