Delegation of Uzbekistan participates in the “Trade Instead of Aid” Forum in New York

• 137NEW YORK, July 15. /Dunyo IA/. Delegation of Uzbekistan participated in the “Trade Instead of Aid” Forum organized by the U.S. Mission to the UN, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Uzbek side was represented at the event by Nozima Davletova, Consultant to the Head of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan and Head of the Secretariat of the American-Uzbek Business and Investment Council.
Forum was chaired by the Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN, Mike Waltz. It was attended by delegations from 43 states, representatives of the United Nations Development Programme, UNICEF, World Bank, U.S. Chamber of Commerce and about 30 leading American companies, including “Apple”, “Google”, “JPMorgan Chase”, “Bank of America”, “Goldman Sachs”, “General Motors”, “ExxonMobil”, “Meta”, “Microsoft”, “Pfizer”, “Boeing” and “Winrock International”.
During the event, opportunities for transitioning from traditional development assistance models to a mutually beneficial trade and investment partnership, expanding private sector participation and implementing joint projects conducive to sustainable economic growth were reviewed. Particular attention was paid to the prospects for interaction with the Central Asian states and the more active integration of the region into global production and trade chains.
Nozima Davletova, Consultant to the Head of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan and Head of the Secretariat of the American-Uzbek Business and Investment Council, briefed representatives of US government and business circles on the priority areas of trade and investment cooperation. Large-scale legislative reforms in Uzbekistan were presented, including the establishment of an English law-oriented court within the Tashkent International Financial Centre, which will provide additional guarantees for protecting the rights of foreign investors.
Along with this, the national strategy for attracting American technologies and capital was presented, and the republic's focus on achieving concrete practical results was emphasized. A special emphasis was placed on the Uzbek side's readiness to create the most favorable conditions for the implementation of joint high-tech projects and the expansion of cooperation in the field of innovation.
On the sidelines of the forum, brief conversations were held with UNDP Administrator Alexander De Croo, U.S. Deputy Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Michelle Bekkering, as well as high-ranking representatives of American corporations “Google”, “Boeing” and BNY, during which an exchange of views took place on the prospects for expanding and deepening cooperation with Uzbekistan.
