Nepalese online media on prospects for trade and economic cooperation with Uzbekistan

KATHMANDU, December 16. /Dunyo IA/. The online publication Nepal Diplomat has published an article devoted to the outcomes of the roundtable discussion entitled “Nepal–Uzbekistan: Strengthening Trade and Investment Ties”, which was held in Kathmandu, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The article highlights the growing role of Uzbekistan as a key economic hub in Central Asia, noting that the country’s GDP reached nearly USD 115 billion in 2024.
The publication emphasizes Uzbekistan’s favourable and attractive business climate, underscoring that the volume of foreign direct investment attracted since 2018 has amounted to USD 120 billion.
Particular interest among Nepalese business circles is focused on sectors such as the textile industry, renewable energy, and mining.
The author stresses Uzbekistan’s strategic advantage as a gateway to the Central Asian regional market.
According to the article, the event was attended by officials, representatives of the business community, and government agencies of Nepal.
The publication in Nepal Diplomat reflects the growing interest of the international community in Uzbekistan’s economic reforms and the readiness of South Asian countries to deepen bilateral partnerships.
It is worth recalling that on 11 December 2025, the first Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Nepal, with residence in New Delhi, Sardor Rustambayev, presented his credentials to President Ram Chandra Poudel. On 12 December, a roundtable discussion was held in Kathmandu focusing on the further development of trade, economic, and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and Nepal.
