New steps identified in Islamabad to expand Uzbek-Pakistani media partnership

ISLAMABAD, December 16. /Dunyo IA/. Uzbek Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev met with Adil Shahzeb, Director of the central Pakistani television channel Pakistan TV, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Pakistani side was presented with information on the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan under the leadership of the Head of State, particularly those related to freedom of speech, comprehensive development, and support for mass media. It was noted that in recent years, the number of media outlets in Uzbekistan, including television channels, has increased significantly.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Uzbek and Pakistani media, including the implementation of joint creative projects, organization of reciprocal media visits, professional development for journalists and technical staff, as well as the organization of training sessions and workshops.
Adil Shahzeb provided an overview of Pakistan TV’s activities. He noted that by establishing partnerships with foreign media outlets, the Pakistani public receives timely and objective information about events and developments on the international stage.
Pakistan TV has established cooperation with central television channels in countries such as Russia and Azerbaijan, signing corresponding memorandums. These agreements have facilitated creative partnerships in areas including information exchange, concert programs, and cultural-educational initiatives. Shahzeb expressed readiness to establish creative relations with Uzbek television channels and sign a memorandum of understanding.
It was emphasized that signing such an agreement would further expand opportunities for the regular transmission and exchange of accurate and up-to-date information about events in Uzbekistan. It would also enhance efforts to promptly inform the Pakistani public about Uzbekistan’s foreign policy and regularly familiarize viewers with the opinions of government and public figures, experts, analysts, and media representatives regarding reforms in both countries.
To strengthen creative cooperation, the Pakistani side proposed organizing a visit of a Pakistan TV delegation to Uzbekistan.
At the conclusion of the meeting, an agreement was reached to prepare and broadcast new television projects highlighting Uzbekistan’s ongoing reforms, rich cultural heritage, and tourism potential.
