Emirati company to invest $288 million in the construction of a logistics hub in Tashkent

KYIV, August 28. /Dunyo IA/. Emirati company “DP World” plans to begin construction of a major logistics hub in Tashkent in October this year, investment in the project is estimated at $288 million, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with the Ukrainian Center for Transport Strategies (CTS).
Representatives of the company, as noted, invited President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony. The future complex will be capable of handling up to 20 million tonnes of cargo and 150,000 containers annually.
Hub will comprise a dry port with rail connectivity, customs infrastructure and warehousing facilities. During the first phase, a 63,000-square-metre warehouse complex and a rail terminal are planned to be constructed.
“DP World” expects the project to increase the efficiency of freight transportation and transport connectivity in Uzbekistan, as well as facilitate trade procedures and strengthen the logistics capabilities of Central Asia.
