“Komsomolskaya Pravda”: Over 35 years, Uzbekistan has evolved from a centralised, predominantly raw materials-based economy to a more open and diversified development model

MOSCOW, August 28. /Dunyo IA/.  Ahead of the 35th Anniversary of the Independence of Uzbekistan, newspaper “Komsomolskaya Pravda” published an analytical article by Doctor of Political Sciences Abror Yusupov on the country’s key transformations during the years of independence, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Author notes that during this period, Uzbekistan has evolved from a centralised and predominantly raw materials-based economy to a more open and diversified development model.

Publication pays particular attention to the reforms of the past decade aimed at economic liberalisation, the development of entrepreneurship, attracting investment and digitalization. In 2025, the country’s GDP grew by 7.7 percent and exceeded $145 billion, while international financial organisations forecast the continuation of high economic growth rates.

Author also examines changes in the public administration system and relations between the state and society. In his assessment, the reforms are gradually shifting the focus from administrative governance towards improving the quality of life of citizens, developing human capital and expanding feedback mechanisms.

Newspaper notes that strengthening trust among the countries of Central Asia and developing trade and investment ties are creating a foundation for further regional integration, while the next stage of Uzbekistan’s development will largely depend on labour productivity, digitalisation, the rational use of water resources, adaptation to climate change and further integration into the global economy.
