“Imroze Pakistan”: Tashkent and Islamabad build a model of interregional cooperation connecting Central and South Asia

ISLAMABAD, March 7. /Dunyo IA/. An article devoted to relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan has been published in the popular Pakistani online publication “Imroze Pakistan”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
In his article, Behzod Alimjonov, an expert at the Center for Foreign Policy Research and International Initiatives of Uzbekistan, highlights the historical ties between the peoples of the two nations, emphasizing that Pakistan was among the first to recognize and warmly welcome Uzbekistan's independence.
Particular attention is paid to the sense of spiritual proximity formed between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Pakistan over centuries, despite the geographical distance.
“Uzbekistan and Pakistan are consistently strengthening historical ties and expanding cooperation in the political, trade-economic, and cultural spheres. In 2021, relations were elevated to the level of strategic partnership, which is reflected in growing collaboration across many fields”, - article states.
International experts attribute these achievements to the political will of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Their constant dialogue has strengthened trust and institutional alignment between the two countries.
It is noted that over the past decade, both nations have achieved significant results in trade, defense, security, cultural exchange and multilateral cooperation.
According to the author, amid changing global geopolitical dynamics, relations between Tashkent and Islamabad are increasingly viewed as a model for interregional cooperation linking Central and South Asia.
Behzod Alimjonov emphasizes that growing political trust and the emergence of new areas of cooperation are laying a solid foundation for elevating Uzbekistan-Pakistan relations to a new level.
